All funds and plans purchased for use at the University of Manitoba Food Services locations are for the personal use of the owner of the account or plan only and are non-transferable. The University of Manitoba Food Services funds and plans cannot be used as a gift card or gift certificate. Except as otherwise expressly stated in these terms, all University of Manitoba Food Services funds and plans are non-refundable and will expire at the earlier of the last day of enrollment or employment, as applicable, or the last day of the current semester.
Voluntary Meal Plan Memberships which are not tax exempt:
1. Voluntary Memberships which are not tax exempt are refundable at anytime throughout the year.
2. Voluntary Membership dollars carryover to the next year, so any unused Meal Plan dollars can be used in the next academic year.
3. A $60 refund administration fee will also be charged before a refund will be issued.
*Please note: refunds come in the form of a cheque, which can take upwards of 8 weeks to be processed.
Voluntary Meal Plan Memberships which are tax exempt:
1. Voluntary Memberships which are tax exempt are refundable with limitations.
a. Before any refund can be issued you must pay taxes on all the dollars spent which you have received tax free status, you will be taxed 13% on this amount.
b. A $60 refund administration fee will also be charged before a refund will be issued.
*Please note: refunds come in the form of a cheque, which can take upwards of 8 weeks to be processed.
c. Voluntary Meal Plan Memberships purchased with the installment payment program will not receive a refund on the administation fee charged in the first payment.
d. Meal portion of the Voluntary Meal Plan Memberships are not refundable. Meal portion of FFCo Club Memberships expires at the end of the spring semester. Meal portion of Balanced Memberships expire at the end of the academic semester that membership was purchased.
*Any Voluntary Meal Plan extension must be approved by University of Manitoba Food Services at Room 202 Pembina Hall.
Example:
- $2200 tax free plan (has one academic year tax free time period) you spend $500 of the plan within the first 2 months and want a refund
- You will be charged the taxes at 13% of the money spent within the tax free period
$500 X 13% = $65
- You will also be charged a $60 administration fee
- Your total cost of the refund is $125
- Your total refund is $2200 - $500 (spent) - $125 (in taxes and fees) = $1575 refund
2. Voluntary Membership dollars carryover to the next year, any unused Meal Plan dollars can be used in the next academic year, however all monies spent will be taxable.
3. Voluntary Tax exempt memberships do have a time limit i.e. 1 semester or 1 academic year. Depending on the plan purchased, the time granted for tax exempt status is set, once you pass the tax exempt period your plan is no longer tax exempt and thus becomes taxable. You will not lose your remaining funds but anything purchased after the tax exempt period will be taxed and the total for each additional purchase (tax included) will be subtracted from your remaining balance on your Meal Plan Membership until your dollars run out.
Refund Policy:
All website purchases are considered to be final. Exceptions will be made for processing errors. All refunds for processing errors will be refunded to the credit card used for the purchase.
